As part of a series of seminars and themed round tables aimed at creating a platform for permanent work and reflection on different areas related to Culture and Cultural Heritage, the seminar “To List, Preserve and Appreciate Intangible Cultural Heritage” is part of the programme that seeks to raise awareness of the relevance of Intangible Cultural Heritage, within the context of promoting public policies on a regional and local scale that encourage its safeguarding, preservation and appreciation.

Aware of the importance of recognising, disseminating and safeguarding these manifestations to value the identity and cohesion of communities, and considering the need to stimulate concrete safeguarding actions, this seminar will address the definition of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) and the forms of legal protection and safeguarding (standards, methodologies and safeguarding procedures), as well as national and international safeguarding instruments and the role of ICH holders (communities). This seminar is meant to be an active space for exchanging experiences, thus exposing a wide range of national examples and good practices.

The seminar is dedicated to the political and technical teams of local authorities and all public and private organisations that oversee, administer or are involved in the valueing and preservation of intangible cultural heritage.
