The Porto Metropolitan Council (AMP) decided today, unanimously, to keep unchanged the prices of the Andante tickets for 2025. With this measure, the AMP reinforces its commitment to promoting public transport as a sustainable and affordable alternative, avoiding financially burdening citizens in times of economic challenges.

The decision covers both municipal and inter-municipal passes, as well as occasional tickets, ensuring that costs for regular users remain stable. This policy contributes to the continuity of a more inclusive and efficient transport system, aligned with the region’s sustainable mobility goals.

The only exception will be for tickets bought inside the vehicles, which will be subject to an adjustment in their values. The AMP thus ensures a significant effort to benefit the population and encourage uptake of public transport as a preferred option.

This proposal approved today is also supported by the reinforcement of funding from the programme Incentiva+TP, promoted by the Government. This programme aims to support and strengthen public transport in Portugal, ensuring its accessibility and sustainability, and the amounts allocated aim to offset the operational costs of transport networks, maintain affordable tariffs and promote the use of public transport as a more sustainable and efficient alternative to urban mobility, in line with the country's environmental and social goals.

This meeting also approved the Activity Plan, the Budget, the Multi-Annual Investment Plan and the AMP’s staff distribution for 2025. The Executive Committee informed the Council that they are conducting a study on the organizational restructuring of the Porto Metropolitan Area.

The Porto Metropolitan Council also approved the inter-administrative contract for the delegation and sharing of transport authority powers relating to the public inter-municipal passenger transport service operated by STCP between AMP and the municipalities of Gondomar, Maia, Matosinhos, Porto, Valongo and V.N. Gaia.

The meeting also decided on the prior authorization of the Metropolitan Council for the disposal of movable property from AMP to the metropolitan transport company to be set up soon.

During this Friday's meeting was also held the inauguration of the new Metropolitan Executive Officer, Orlando Jorge Vieira da Silva Leal, elected by the 17 General Assemblies of the AMP municipalities.
